Organising, conducting and writing multi-car comparison tests has become a hallmark of my career. Combining an exact knowledge of the entire new car market with the constant monitoring of forthcoming new car arrivals and new rivalries, has given me the edge in creating timely comparisons for both Wheels and CarAdvice.
The need for writing that is tight and concise, while remaining enjoyable to read, is especially crucial when more cars come into a test. The ability to turn around thousands of words and clean copy in a short period of time is something valued by former editors.
At Wheels I contibuted to the re-introduction of the ‘mega test’ because I had loved reading them in the 1990s. Reader feedback was extremely positive to these mega tests, which included assessment of up to 12 vehicles.
At CarAdvice, I led the expansion of multi-car comparison testing and introducing the ‘mega test’. It quickly became one of the most popular elements on the site. Over two-and-a-half years I contributed 56 comparison tests across a price range from $12,000 to $300,000-plus, published on both the website and iPad app.
